Only five weeks after surrendering the position to Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy is back to being the World No 1.
With Donald failing to secure the top-eight finish he needed at the RBC Heritage on Sunday, closing with a second consecutive 71 to place 37th, McIlroy was back on top without needing to hit a single shot.
McIlroy tweeted: "£1 again without touching a golf club this week.... I wish it was that easy!"
After openining with a 75 in Hilton Head on Thursday, Donald was never in the running for the title and it was a fight just to make the cut for the Englishman.
He ended up a full 16 shots behind the winner on Sunday and, though disappointed, took the loss of the No 1 ranking in his stride.
"Is it a concern? No," Donald said on www.skysports.com. "Obviously, I'd have liked to have played a bit more consistently this year.
"I built it up nicely last year through tournaments and winning a bunch."
