American Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III says he is keen to put Tiger Woods up against Rory McIlroy later this year.
Woods and McIlory: Two of the games hottest names
The duo did not face off at the 2010 Ryder Cup in any of the formats and have not met in any tour match play events.
With McIlroy having pocketed his second major on Sunday and Woods a perennial show stopper, the prospect of the two going head to head is mouthwatering.
While the respective Ryder Cup captains will not know each others line-ups for the final day singles at the Medinah Country Club in September, there is a chance that Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal will pick Woods and
McIlroy respectively as their final pairing.
"I'd want to go watch that one," said Love III.
"It would be nice to be able to rig a couple like that for Tiger and Rory - he would probably like that.
"It would be a great match. I'm sure they both would relish that - we have got some guys on our team that I'm sure would love to take him on because you want to play the best.
"You want to play a guy that's hot and I know Tiger or Phil (Mickelson) or any of those guys would love to try it."
