Ernie Els is still in dreamland following his unlikely victory at The Open, but that doesn't mean he will skip the Canadian Open.
Ernie Els: Amazing feeling
The South African, who also won the Open Championship in 2002 at Muirfield, started the day six shots behind overnight leader Adam Scott yet he somehow managed to come out on top by one stroke.
Four birdies on the back nine saw him close the tournament on seven-under, and then he watched as Scott finished with four bogeys on the trot to hand him victory.
"Wow, what a week. It's a crazy, crazy game - this was one of the greatest days of my career and one of the best rounds of my career," the 42-year-old said in his website diary.
"I said at the start of the tournament that I felt like something special might happen and it doesn't get more special than this. It's an amazing feeling.
"Obviously the putt on 18 was as sweet as they come, right into the heart of the cup.
"The crowd's reaction was incredible. They are the moments you dream about really."
Els is set to take part in the Canadian Open this week, but he altered his plans to fly directly to Ontario following his victory.
He opted to spend Sunday evening with his family at Wentworth in Surrey and hopes to head to Canada in a few days' time.
"A pretty crazy night, but in a good way obviously," he wrote.
"I'll be flying to Canada probably on Tuesday. I'm sure they'll understand.
"It's a tournament I wouldn't want to miss. Once I commit that's it. You follow through, whatever happens."
The tournament sponsors Royal Bank of Canada also back Els and he added: "They've been good to me and I want to give something back to them. It should be a great week."
