A four-under-par 67 was enough to help Chella Choi to claim a one-shot lead heading into the weekend of the LPGA Tour Jamie Farr Toledo Classic.
Chella Choi: Good day's work
After birding the first hole and turning at three-under, the South Korean made a poor start on the back nine with two consecutive bogeys to drop back to one-under.
However, she regained her composure with three birdies down the stretch to end the day with a nine-under 133 following an opening round of 66.
"I played really good today - and the same yesterday," the 21-year-old told lpga.com. "I shot it really good today. I hit 16 greens, 12 fairways."
Inbee Park, who won the Evian Masters last time out, carded a six-under 65 to tied second with Hee Kyung Seo (66) and Japan's Mika Miyazato (68).
"I think it is actually easy and tough at the same time because you have such a confidence out there that wee," said Park.
"Playing with the confidence, you feel a lot more comfortable on the golf course. Even if you're not playing as well as you think, you can be a little bit easier on yourself. If you're playing really good, I think that's a bonus. So I think it's more comfortable."
First-round leader Pernilla Lindberg, Hee-Won Han, Karine Icher and So Yeon Ryu are another shot off the pace.
