Lexi Thompson carded a career-best 63 to hold a two-stroke lead after round one of the Navistar LPGA Classic.
Thompson: Looking to defend her title
Thompson, the defending champion, fired a flawless round that included five birdies on the front nine and a further four more on the back nine.
"It feels really good getting a first round of 63 under my belt, but you have to take it one shot at a time," the American told the official LPGA website. "Can't get ahead of yourself in this game, so just going to hope to play like I did today for the next three rounds."
Two shots back, Hee Young Park was also without a bogey through the day's running, but was just unable to quite match the pace of the 17-year-old Thompson.
Park finds herself level with Lizette Salas on seven-under, with Salas having matched Thompson for birdies but blotted her copybook with two bogeys.
Stacy Lewis leads a group of five players who are a further shot adrift on six-under.
