Vijay Singh moved to the top of the BMW Championship leaderboard on Friday, but Rory McIlory and Tiger Woods are not far behind.
Vijay Singh: Eyeing victory
The three-time major winner from Fiji carded a six-under-par 66 for a total of 13-under 131, which leaves him one-shot ahead of first-round co-leader McIlroy as well as Woods and Ryan Moore.
With tee-off times moved up to avoid bad weather at the Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana, Singh teed off on the 10th hole and mixed up seven birdies with a single bogey.
"I've got to keep it going," said Singh, whose last win on the PGA Tour was in 2008. "I've been playing well for two days for a while now, but I need four days of good playing.
"Sooner or later I think four days is going to happen, and hopefully it starts this week."
World number one McIlroy, who won last week's Deutsche Bank Championship and sits atop the FedExCup points table, had a mixed day as his second round included an eagle, six birdies and four bogeys.
"It wasn't as good a day as yesterday," the 23-year-old Northern Irishman said. "I didn't hit the ball quite as well, but scored well and did enough to go out there and shoot another good number and set myself up in a good position going into the weekend."
Woods had a bogey-free round but he only found momentum late in his round as he birdied three of the final four holes.
"Today was a struggle," the American said. "I fought hard to shoot a number today, and the way I was hitting it, I figured if I could get to double digits under par it would be a good accomplishment. I got a couple more out of it."
Lee Westwood shot up the leaderboard after a seven-under 65 moved him to 11-under after two rounds and he is tied for fifth with Bo van Pelt, the first-round co-leader.
Englishman Westwood's feat of seven-under was matched by Padraig Harrington, who finds himself two further shots back.
