Peter Hanson produced an eagle on the last to win the KLM Open by two strokes on Sunday.
Hanson: Ends victory drought
The 34-year-old holed a 30-foot putt on the 18th to ensure that he saw off the challenge of Richie Ramsay and Pablo Larrazabal to claim his first title in more than two years.
Hanson began the day on eleven-under, one behind a group of four leaders and his 67 - and total of fourteen-under - proved enough to seal the win.
The Swede looked to have blown his chances after back to back bogeys on 13 and 14 but he recovered with a birdie on the 15th before his last gasp eagle.
None of the overnight leaders were able to shoot rounds under par as they all stalled when it really mattered. Larrazabal proved the best of the quartet but his 70 was only enough for a share of second with Richie Ramsay who carded a 67.
Scott Jamieson was one shot further adrift on eleven-under while Gonzalo Fdez-Castano, Graeme Storm and Henrik Stenson were five off the pace.
The win was made even sweeter for Hanson not only because it ended his title drought but because he nearly pulled out of the event on Friday after his one-year-old son Tim was hospitalised with a respiratory virus in Florida.
"I'm feeling for him of course, he's getting better and better so I'm happy about that. My wife kind of convinced me to stay here and I'm so happy now," he told Sky Sports.
"It was especially hard yesterday. Having him in hospital on the Friday night, I didn't sleep a lot. I was getting updates from my wife and the doctors every hour.
"Yesterday was very, very tough. I actually sent some texts in the round after asking the referee.
"It calmed down once I heard in the evening that he was over the worst of it and feeling better."
Hanson admits that he had no intention of playing it safe on the last, going for the eagle.
"I spoke to my caddie down the last and I said I was going to give it a go to the hole and see what happens. I think he was just as happy as me when the ball went in," he explained.
"It was a fantastic feeling."
