Englishmen Simon Wakefield and Adam Gee are joined by Sihwan Kimon of South Korea at the top of the leaderboard after the first round of the St Omer Open.
The trio ended the first day in France on four-under-par, having shot opening rounds of 67.
Wakefield will be ruing bogeys on the 15th and 16th that saw him slip while back to back birdies on the closing two holes saw Gee climb into a share of the lead.
Kim too was not immune to up and down showings, mixing three birdies with two bogeys on the back nine.
For Gee, the opening round at the Aa Saint Omer Golf Club comes as a welcome relief after he missed most of last season following hip surgery.
"It's a good start," the 31-year-old told Europeantour.com.
"I had some good fortune today - I hit the flag on the 17th and it went in, and on the 18th I hit a good shot from a bad lie and it ran up nicely to the hole.
"It's a quirky golf course and you get good breaks and bad breaks. Sometimes good shots go badly and bad shots turn out well. I managed to get the most out of the good stuff today.
"Last year was very frustrating. I was either playing badly or I was injured. The cartilage between two bones in my hip was torn, so I had surgery to repair it. But everyone gets injured, that's just the way it goes. Luckily I had some great advice and good help from the right people and it's fine now."
South African Darren Fichardt leads a group of three who are a shot back, with Paul Quiros and Raymond Russell also waiting to pounce.
