A level-par round of 71 was enough to see Stacy Lewis claim her second title of the season at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
Having done all the hard work with six-under par rounds of 65 on Friday and Saturday, a solid 18 holes was all that Lewis needed on the final day in New Jersey. Her closest challenger, Katherine Hull of Australia, was a handsome four shots back.
Lewis had back surgery a decade ago that almost derailed her career, and couldn't quite believe that she has managed to turn things around so spectacularly.
She's set to move up to third n the world rankings with this win and will be the top-ranked American on Tour.
"I'm speechless," she said. "To go from back surgery where I couldn't even sit up by myself to now playing golf, having fun with it, playing with the best players in the world and being one of them? It doesn't get any better than that."
Lewis looked set for another low-scoring round when she carded four birdies on the front nine, only for a double bogey at the 11th to set her back. It didn't matter in the end though, with a four-under 67 the low round of the day, shot by fifth-placed Lexi Thompson.
Hull as well as Mika Miyazato and Azahara Munoz, who shared third on seven-under, struck 68s, with nobody able to launch a dangerous attack.
"Catching her was going to be hard," Hull said. "She's playing great. So I thought it was probably going to be a battle for second place.
"You just have to be patient out there and fortunately I put a good round on the board. I'm really happy to finish second."
