If there's one person who still believes that Tiger Woods can overhaul Jack Nicklaus' major record, it's Woods himself.
Speaking on the eve of the Memorial Tournament in Ohio, hosted by Nicklaus, Woods said: "I figure it's going to take a career. It took Jack 24 years.
"This is my 17th year into it. I still feel like I have plenty of time - it's about giving myself the greatest amount of opportunities to win them on the back nine on Sunday. The more chances I give myself, I figure I'm going to clip a few of them."
Woods wasn't speaking to the media, but to fans in an online question-and-answer session.
He also spoke of his work with swing coach Sean Foley, saying that he was encouraged by the swing adjustments they've made.
Since his win at Bay Hill in March, Woods has struggled to put together four good rounds, even missing the cut at Quail Hollow, but the 14-time major champion was echoing a familiar refrain about his progress.
"We're excited about what we're working on," he said. "I hadn't played well in a couple of weeks but we know what it is. It's a matter of getting reps in and getting the trust in the swing."
