Paul Casey only just passed a fitness test to play at Wentworth this week, but he may wish he hadn't.
The Englishman, who still has not fully recovered from a dislocated shoulder sustained in a snowboarding accident on New Year's Eve, returned from injury in the first round of the BMW PGA Championship on Thursday.
Casey was level par through his first nine holes, but things went badly awry on the back nine as he hit four drives into the trees on the long 17th.
He found the first ball, but because it was unplayable he had to go back to the tee and start the hole again.
Casey finished with a double-bogey, to add to another he made at the 12th. He also bogeyed the 11th, 15th and 18th for an inward 43 and a six-over-par 78.
The 2009 event winner said: "Everything is just a hang-on cut - I'm just not trusting it. I so want to play and I did a good job of faking it, but it's so frustrating."
Casey was ranked as highly as third in the world three years ago, but now finds himself outside the top 50 after missing the first two months of the season.
