One of the questions I am most often asked by amateur players is: “How can I hit the ball further?” Well there is no simple answer. In fact there are a great number of aspects that can effect how far your ball travels. Science tells us the major reasons are club head speed and angel of attack. Working on angle attack can be very complex, so let’s focus on club head speed. To maximize club head speed, we need to create a large arc with our arms and get a full shoulder turn. The best way to do this is by pulling your right shoulder blade behind you as you take away the club. Next try and keep your hands as far away from your body as possible. This will ensure great width in your backswing. By setting yourself into this position you load up the power and make it available to the ball on the downswing. Try this next time you play Doson.
Keep it in the Fairway.
