Beatriz Recari claimed a one-stroke victory at the Marathon Classic on Sunday after carding a final round 66 to finish ahead of Paula Creamer.
Beatriz Recari: Narrow win
Recari and Creamer was tied for the lead going into the final round, with the Spanish player sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole to take the out-right lead and managed to hold on to her advantage as she secured her third title on the LPGA Tour.
"Back and forth, back and forth," Recari said after the pair had traded the lead for much of their final round in Toledo.
"It totally felt like the Solheim Cup."
Recari could have sealed things on the 17th when she had an easy opportunity for a birdie, but watched on as her six-footer rolled agonisingly passed the cup.
However, she made a difficult hold for par on the final hole to claim the one-shot victory over her rival.
Creamer was looking for her first victory on the LPGA Tour since winning the 2010 U.S. Women's Open and had to settle for a 67 and second place.
"My goodness, there were so many great shots played today," Creamer said.
"Do I wish I could go back and maybe change a couple of things here and there? Yes. But I played great. Beatriz just played one shot better."
Three shots behind Creamer in tie for third place on 13-under was Lexi Thompson and Jodi Ewart Shadoff after rounds of 67 and 66 respectively, with Angela Stanford and Jacqui Concolino three more strokes behind.
World number one Inbee Park had to settle for a round of 72 on Sunday and finished on three-under in a tie for 33rd position.
