Andy North: Ryder Cup vice-captain

"He knows what it takes to close the deal and that's what we need on the Ryder Cup team,' Watson announced on the eve of the US PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic.
North is a two-time US Open winner - in 1978 and 1985 - and represented the US in the Ryder Cup in 1985 as well.
"It's obviously an honour and we'll do whatever we possibly can to get the Cup where it belongs, back here at home," North said of his appointment.
The 12-man US team will attempt to win back the trophy at Gleneagles next year after the European side dramatically won the title at Medinah last year when they recovered from a 10-6 deficit entering the singles to win by a single point.
The US side has only won one of the last six events between the continental sides.
