After 255 attempts, Jaime Donaldson at last secured his first European Tour title, winning the Irish Open at Royal Portrush.
The Welshman's total of 18-under-par was enough to see off the challenge of England's Anthony Wall, Spaniard Rafa Cabrera-Bello and Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti by four shots.
The local "Big Three" of Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke finishing 10th, 16th and 39th respectively while Irishman Padraig Harrington came in seventh.
The overnight leader, Donaldson's party briefly looked like it may be spoiled by Mikael Lundberg whose took just 29 shots to complete the opening nine holes of his final round. However, a level-par 36 over the closing nine saw the Swede's charge mellow.
However, this was in part down to the metal shown by Donaldson who produced five birdies over the last seven holes to shoot a closing 66, one off the low round of the tournament.
A triple bogey at the second stymied Wall's scoring early on and the Englishman was always making up ground from then on in.
Conversely, Cabrera-Bello and Zanotti - like Donaldson - shot six-under 66s but with the leader posting just as many birdies, they were unable to make the necessary inroads.
Donaldson held a two-shot lead over Wall heading into the last and showed few nerves despite the enormity of occasion, finding the fairway and then rolling in a birdie but to finish in style.
