Defending champion Louis Oosthuizen shot a superb 11-under-par 62 to take a two-shot lead in the Africa Open.
Oosthuizen - leads by two.
The 29-year-old South African made the best of the windless conditions on Friday to move to 15 under par for the tournament at East London Golf Club, good enough for a two-shot advantage over compatriots Tjaart van der Walt (64), Thomas Aiken (69), Retief Goosen (68) and Jaco Ahlers (68), who all lie on 13 under.
Another group of five players lie a further two shots back on 11 under - England's Danny Willett (68), Sweden's Magnus Carlsson (66), England's Tommy Fleetwood (66) and Scots Alistair Forsyth (66) and Craig Lee (67).
Oosthuizen looked sharp in all facets of his game, beginning the day with a birdie at the ninth and following it up with four more on the back nine for an outward 32.
He then birdied the first immediately after the turn and picked up another shot when he two-putted the third after finding the green in two.
He nearly made an eagle at the fifth, but his ball lipped out after a superb chip shot, leaving an easy birdie.
He did eagle the very next hole, however, the par-four 308-yard sixth, after finding the green with his drive and sinking an unbelievable 50-footer.
Two more birdies at the eight and ninth, the latter coming courtesy of a curling 25-foot putt, took him to 15 under and two shots clear of the chasing pack.
"I was aggressive on the putter. I went about six foot past a few times and I had to make those for par," said Oosthuizen, "and the one I made on the eighth would have been eight or 10 foot past, but it hit the middle of the cup.
"But I was aggressive because yesterday I left a few putts short and you're not going to hit it that far past on these greens," he added.
Of his eagle at the sixth, he said: "It was a lot of concentration on the tee shot because I hit the three-wood in the bush yesterday. It was a three-wood again off the tee, and I didn't want to take any other club because I wanted to show myself that I can do it, because if I'd taken something else then the next day I would probably have a three-wood again.
"So I hit it on the green at the back. I saw the line of the putt but I wasn't sure so I asked my caddie and he saw exactly the same line. I hit a perfect putt and it went straight in the middle of the hole. But it was a very long putt - it was probably about 60 feet.
"I putted brilliantly."
